At Radian, we provide specialized services in flood modeling and simulation, in addition to designing effective solutions for flood risk mitigation. Our team applies advanced methodologies to assess potential hazards and develop tailored strategies that ensure the protection of communities and infrastructure.
Tunneling ServiceThe tunneling method is one of the safest and most efficient techniques for constructing large-diameter, deep pipelines that are difficult to execute using traditional methods. This technology is particularly utilized in stormwater drainage and flood protection projects, where pipelines are installed at great depths with minimal impact on roads. It is also used where drainage lines intersect with major roads to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow during construction.
Stormwater Drainage Using Horizontal Directional Drilling – Project Value Exceeding 550 Million SARThis large-scale project aims to transfer stormwater from the “Naka” lakes to the “Buraidah” valley. It facilitates the drainage of water collected from the eastern bridge through a 2500 mm diameter pipeline running along King Abdullah Road, channeling excess water toward the valley. The project covers vast areas in the eastern part of the city and serves key districts such as Al-Rabi’, Al-Rabwa, Al-Noor, and Al-Naqi — home to major landmarks including King Fahd Specialist Hospital.
Water is pumped through two stations with a total capacity of 9,100 liters per second to three lakes — Al-Mushtal, Al-Naqi, and the Labor Housing Lake — with a total storage capacity of 1,372,800 m². These lakes are used for storm preparedness, peak flow absorption, and flood control. The water is then discharged via horizontal directional drilling pipelines with a 3,500 mm diameter, depths ranging from 13 to 60 meters, and a total length of approximately 9.85 km leading to the Al-Rummah valley outlet.
Water is also pumped from the line to the valley through a pumping station with a capacity of 27,180 liters per second. The project includes connecting stormwater drainage networks from neighborhoods along the route — such as Al-Waseeti, Al-Rafee’a, Al-Dhahi, and Al-Basateen — to the Inner Eastern Ring Road, enhancing the overall efficiency of the city’s stormwater management system.
